DescriptionCarved argillite platter with inlay. Oval-shaped argillite platter carved lengthwise with moon face motif in center, surrounded by split design image of killer whale. Whale shows a blow hole, a grimacing face with bared teeth, a dorsal fin, two pectoral fins, and a fluked tail with two ovoids split. The blow hole shows a texturized crosshatching and the main organic material, possibly white ivory or bone, decorates the midpoints of the four sides of the platter. An engraved tortoise shell pattern on the underside of the platter.
