DescriptionAlthough this piece is a dazzling patchwork of colors and forms, undoubtedly its most bewildering feature is the irregularity that takes hold of many of the stepped forms in the center. If the two large organic forms in the lower part of the central field are lotuses, as they appear to be, the stepped forms continuing around them should then be read as the rippled surface of water. This latter motif also decorates one of the Indus Valley ceramics.
Elaborately and intricately embroidered. In one corner the fringe is green and yellow instead of off-white. The green/yellow segment is approximately 10 cm long. The pattern stitched into the blanket is largely geometric in nature, but is broken in the center by a series of large black, white and green leaves. The edges are bordered by a repeating pattern of houses, all in varying colors.
