DescriptionRectangular portrait-oriented support; black stenciled text on black paper. Text reads, "I am an invisible man. No, I am not a spook like those who haunted Edgar Allan Poe; nor am I one of your Hollywood movie ectoplasms. I am a man of substance, of flesh and bone, fiber and liquids – and I might even be said to possess a mind. I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me." Text repeats over and over again in vertical lines with different spacing between words and letters. Smudging is introduced into the print and becomes more prominent in the lower half of the print until the words and letters become nearly illegible. The text is quoted from Ralph Ellison's 1952 novel Invisible Man.On View
