DescriptionThe head of the axe is, for the most part, rectangular, with a point extending from the top rear. A spike on the bottom was driven into the shaft and then secured by a long, concave metal band that was hammered around the junction and extended. The remaining bit of shaft is a hard wood. The blade is angled and the rest of the head has a broad, open face.
