"A very sunny scene with two white horses, their tails to the spectator, the nearest horse is turned to the right, the other slightly to the left. They stand in front of a dark opening, above which is a great beam supporting a wall, with a door in the middle. To the left of the horse the Smith and his boy are standing, partly in shadow, nearer in front is a rainwater butt. On the right in the foreground is a grindstone" (#88 Way).
