DescriptionIvory sledge runners. Each runner is wide and roughly broken at one end, and tapers down to a near point at the other. Each runner has a ridge and through the ridge are holes that go through either to the under-surface or out the other side. Each runner has 10 holes in it, in 5 pairs. These are apparently left and right runners as the holes and the ridge are on opposite sides of each. The tapered end of the ivory is slanted at the tip causing one side to be longer. This is perhaps to guide the snow to the outside of the sledge rather than between the runners. On the underside of the ridge side of the runner it is worn, suggesting that the weight of the sleigh was against this ridge.
