DescriptionSampler by a seven year old child in green, brown, and gold on a natural background. In the upper portion of the sampler are four lines of alphabets, and a set of numbers (one to sixteen). Each line is separated by a line of decoration. In the lower portion are the words: With a Cheerful heart we yeild to men/The higher honors of the pen/The needle is our greatest (......) unreadable/In this chiefly wish to thine (shine)/How far the art's already mine
this sampler will declare/Mary Ann Eliza Green 1821 aged 7 years." The colors appear to have run onto the natural background. There are four small holes in the upper two rows of the alphabet, and a hole in the lower left corner. The lower edge is ravelling with age.
