DescriptionBlack and white photo mounted on cream board. Photo is of the cathedral in Orvieto, Italy. Taken at a slight angel to the left, and gives a full view of front and portion o the left side. You can see the vertical black and white stripes. The front of the cathedral consists of one main double door in the center. The front of the cathedral has a double door in the center, with smaller ones on each side that lead to the outside. Above this is a large round window. This view of the cathedral is actually the west facade. It is decorated with mosaics, reliefs, bronzes, pillars, stained glass and carved embellishments. Work on the cathedral began in 1290, under Fra Bevignate.
