DescriptionBattle-axe, African, probably southeastern. Wooden handle with triangular steel blade. Handle reinforced with wide bands of steel, copper, and brass wire woven in a spiral design. Head of handle completely covered with woven wire and decorated with what appears to be a watch stem. Hole bored thru grasping end of handle with wire run thru it apparently to aid in carrying or for suspension.On View
