DescriptionMrs. James Madison (Dolley Payne); miniature portrait of a young woman wearing a lace ruffle collar, red shawl and white turban hat; blue eyes and brown curls at her temples; in a red case trimmed with gold; a gold border frames the portrait which is under glass; opposite the painting the inside of the cover is padded with one kind of fiber and lined with white satin; two clasps hold the case sheet.
