DescriptionWooden antelope with elaborate open-work mane, long curved horns. Surface of face incised with geometric bands; horns with diagonal stripes. The top portion of the ears is crosshatched. Small hole at tip of hose probably once had metal ring. Surface encrusted with rough textured substance, remains of chalk or lime in the incised lines.

Used in rites re-enacting the mythical beginnings of agriculture. Mounted on caps of basketry and worn by dancers in pairs with female antelope headpieces.
