Description"Just who built this brick house for S. Skinner in 1832 is uncertain, and though local tradition says it was designed by Thomas Royal Duke, the strong 'Hudson Valley' style of the house militates against this view; The decorative features, however suggest the Duke's influence; The workmanship throughout the house shows excellent technique; The brickwork is especially fine; At either end of the house a massive chimney stepped into the gable provides for immense fireplaces within; The beautiful recessed doorway. framed by slender coupled columns, has sidelights and a semicircular head light distinguished by intricate leaded tracery; the date appears on the keystone brick arch of the headlight."On View
