DescriptionThree Cats: Double frame. Reverse has pencil drawing of funeral monument. Reverse has graphite drawing of a landscape, including a highly detailed rendering of Mrs. Abigail Simonds Barrows' Funerary Monument which bears date of 1844. Reverse has pencil drawing of funeral monument beneath a weeping willow tree "To the memory of Mrs. Abigail Simonds Barrows who died Oct. 15, 1844 in the 26th year of her age." Funeral Monument: Inscription on monument reads: "To the memory of Mrs. Abigail Simonds Barrows who died Oct. 15, 1844 in the 26th year of her Life." This is the reverse of a primitive gouache entitled "Three Cats." Both works seem to be by the same hand. Main entry card is under "Three Cats."
