DescriptionThe map from the last battle between the Ojibwe of Mille Lacs, (MN) and the Mdewakanton Sioux of Shakopee, MN, was created by the Ojibwe. It delineates Mille Lacs, and the Rum, Wing, Mississippi, Minnesota rivers, in addition to the path taken by the Ojibwe and the site of the battle near the town of Shakopee. The map presents two individuals, presumably representing Ojibwe warriors, wearing horned headpieces and armed with spears. The horned headpiece is a common Ojibwe symbol of power. The upper right corner of the map was cut to fit the inscription. On View
