DescriptionTwo brass oil lamps, very similar/identical. The base of the stand is circular, with ornate Islamic calligraphy engraved or chased around it in a circular pattern. Above the words are etchings of elephant being ridden by men, adorned by floral patterns. The bottom piece tapers into the body of the lamps, which is quite slim and constructed of a series of connected spherical shapes. A pattern of lines is etched into the spheres. The top piece expands into a larger oval container (which holds the oil), which is also etched with floral designs. Out of this emerge 4 spouts, to which are attached small brass pieces that are used to snuff out the lamp. They are attached by chain to three of the four spouts. The fourth spout has a tweezer-like piece attached by chain. The piece is "crowned" with a tapered piece that is decorated and is topped with a small ornamental finial. The form of the lamp appears to be Central European, on a Middle Eastern Indian.

Lamps with four burners on tall stands. Carved with elaborate designs - geometric and foliate. Bases feature a scene of animals and below that, a row of script. Each burner has chains for tools that hand. Each lamp is modular. Top lids have a loop.
