DescriptionTwo white horses, their tails to the spectator, the nearest horse is turned to the right, the other slightly to the left. They stand in front of a dark opening above which is a great beam, with a door in the middle. To the left of the horses the smith and his boy are standing, partly in shadow, nearer the front is a rainwater butt. On the right in the foreground is a grindstone.
