DescriptionPersian candle holder in repousse work. Inlaid small circular shaped turquoise stones enclose figural scenes. The tapered form, interrupted by five sections around the circumference of the base. Scenes (described top down to bottom) courtly revelry and palace life as well as battles depicting the adventures of Bahrum Gur dispensing the seven worlds. Bahrum Gur's hunt portrayed. Musical activity and revelry. Candlestick would be housed in a palace or large function hall. There are angels, ambiguous demonic beings, horse and warrior.On View
