DescriptionA single piece of bark, outer side on interior, folded probably by steaming and stiched with spruce root. Shape is rectangular at bottom, narrowing to a circular opening reinforced with a root or wooden ring tightly bound with spruce root stitching. A decorative band of crenallations extends below the rim and 2 animals (wolf? and moose) decorate the two long sides. All decoration is in the "negative" technique in which the background bark is peeled and sctrached off down to a lighter layer, leaving the decoration on the darker outer surface. The lid is a ring of bark surmounted by a wood top attached to the container by a rawhide thong. On View
