DescriptionA human head surmounted by a conventionalized bird is attached to a fragment of a large vessel. Part of the "tocado" (headdress) of a typical Zapotec urn. The rear section is not part of the vessel proper but one of the built up flat sheets of clay attached to the front of the cylindrical body of the urn, to which were applied ornaments like this "face-in -bird-helmet" (they are called adornos).On View
