DescriptionClay head broken off a large piece, probably broken off an incensario. The face of a person with open mouth and closed eyes (usually a metaphor for death and rebirth) is framed in a helmet representing the upper jaw of a long-nosed monster which also appears in profile on flat plaques (adornos) flanking the face. The nose of the helmet is lost and the dex. adorno is missing. The whole is backed by a fan of jewelled feathers with an abstract maize motif at center.
