DescriptionThe object is an orange-ware ceramic mold made figurine rattle. The back is simple and indecorated. The front has incised lines representing a woman with naturalistic facial features typical of ancient Mayan people, i.e. extreme dorsal flattening and a broad face. She wears an elaborate headdress, a large beaded necklace, and along traditional Indian dress reminscent of the noble class. The arms are folded across the waist holding her hand an oral ornamental disk with a halt of material hanging from each side of the disk.
