DescriptionCarved argillite plaque. One inch border with no carving, design in center is carved in relief. Fish with dorsal fin is represented and is probably a salmon. Surface design of fish and surounding designs are typical Northwest Coast motifs ie. ovids, u-shaped designs, and eye motifs. Underside of piece is slightly raised in a rectangle (17.5 x 10 cm) with flat finish and no design. Piece on bottom may be constructed of something other than argillite, perhaps plaster. The material is very porous and some slight chips and scratches reveal light colored material underneath. These two pieces show signs of having been possibly glued together.
