DescriptionFragment of Stela of the Deceased Rahotep. Black limestone with curved top; relief carving in two band; at top center, under plain border, a uadjet eye, two lines of hieroglyphs facing right; standing man with arms raised in gesture of worship, facing left toward an offering table with customary offerings of beef, bread, vases, etc.; second band: 1 line, horizontal hieroglyphics and 5 vertical; woman and man seated fcing left towards food offerings; half of standing figure facing right; man on top register is wearing a short kilt under a long transparent skirt; woman has a tight sheath with shoulder straps, and has her left arm around her companion, who holds a lotus; translation by E. Brovarski of MFA Boston: a vadjet eye: "Rahotep" the deceased. 2nd band: It was his on who caused his name to live, the Chief ___ of Min, the lord of Akhunin, Senhotepu. His excellent wife the house mistress Henutawi.
