DescriptionBrown, buff colored effigy modelled in the round with the face, hands and legs of a man in low relief with heads of snakes over his forehead. The hands and feet are incised and he has a feline mouth. Evidence of white paint along the scalloped edges and rim. Geometric designs on the legs. Paint appears to have been fugitive and washed off by the dealer, a common problem with these effigy vessels which were make primarily for burial. Mold-made in two sections; the "scalloped edges" represent mountain peaks, the "home" of this fanged supernatural, sometimes called "Ai'apec".On View
