DescriptionMan's semi-formal court robe, Qifu. Dragon robe of blue with couched gold-wrapped embroidery threads. Has the tight sleeves and horse-shoe cuffs of traditional Manchu costume. Lung dragons are shown in the cosmetic landscape of water, earth and sky with Taoist and Buddhist symbols of good fortune. Gold-wrapped threads couched in red, yellow, and white thread produce the varying shades of gold in the waves. Sleeves are black twill with gold bands. Nine five-clawed dragons. Side closure, front and back slits.Neckband in black silk with gold embroidery; dragons have white eyes. Black center painted. Large dragons with blue ringed eyes. "8 precious things" Taoist symbols; Buddhist wave and mountain border. Large lotus and vase beneath center dragon.
