DescriptionA square, yellow cotton cloth with borders of multi-colored stripes and two bands of ikat dyed elephants. Longitudinal borders of woven tumpal patterns and geometrically patterned warp floats. Striped ikat borders resemble some saris of Orissan manufacture (see Lynton pp. 93-103, 107-115). "Weavers of Orissa and Andra Pradesh have prospered, flooding the handloomed cloth market with fashionably coloured and patterned single- and doubl-ikat saris, garment and furnishing cloths, (Gillow, 38)".On View
