DescriptionGrey clay urn, represents a male figure seated cross-legged, limbs and features represented frontally, with the rear half of the figure a cylindrical container; the figure wears a maxtlatl with an applied maize glyph, a necklace of large beads (representing jade) and a wide "sombrero" type headdress, the upper part of which is missing, with side flanges (dex. side missing) of superimposed horizontal bands with applied "virgula" (comma) motif; the missing part of the headdres once bore an identifying glyph or mask; the face was sharply carved while clay was leather hard, has Teotihuacan style features and applied disc-shaped ear spools; face style is Monte-Alban IIIA, both volumetric legs and general proportions are closer to IIIB; the toes and one finger of dex hand as missing; the entire figure retains traces of red paint, apparently meruric oxideOn View
