DescriptionWooden bird carving made of 2 pieces of wood attached at the middle with 2 nails. Bottom section is head, torso and tail. Top section is wings, attached to bottom at a perpendicular angle. Attached to the nail (centered into top section) is tied piece of bark fiber. Above this on the nail is attached a rope 19.8 cm long, tied in one place, and on the end of which is a tassle ( the fetish amulet?) made of rope. Bottom side is painted and smoothed whereas top is not, suggesting that the bird was hung from something. Along wings are stripes of red + black splotches of pigment/residue. No facial characteristics carved.On View
