DescriptionCarved argillite plate with shallow depression. Outside 1 inch border of plate is flat with an etched design of three parallel lines spaced approximately 3 inches apart and repeating 13 times around the circumference of the plate. Inner surface of the plate is entirely carved in shallow relief of ovids, u-shaped designs, and eye and claw motif typical of Northwest Coast design. The plate may represent the killer whale or snag. Underside is smooth and without caving. A small base is carved on the underside.
