DescriptionFour richly caparisoned elephants with golden blankets and caps using their trunks to fill metal vases with water and then invert them over Vishnu and Lakshmi seated on a lotus below. An umbrella appears to prevent the water from welting them. They are seated on a lotus which appears to float on the water of the lotus pond whence the elephants refill their vases. Two of the elephants carry mahouts in rich costumes, waving fly whisks. Vishnu holds discus, mace, conch, and lotus bud. The paintings' charm arises from the extensive use of gilt and the red outlines and yellow shading of the elephants.On View
