DescriptionA small, square tablecloth made of two layers of cotton print fabric hand-sewn together, with an applied border of medium blue cotton around edges on reverse side. The top is made of a square piece of off-white cotton, plain weave, with a central motif of all-over flowers very reminiscent of those on the much earlier palampores from India. The central design is surrounded by multiple borders of more small floral motifs. The design is part block, part resist printed and handpainted in a manner consistent with historic India calico and chintz production. The lining is another off-white printed cotton with a small repeating floral motif.
