DescriptionA medium-sized, printed cotton chintz prayer mat, made of two layers of fabric hand-stitched together, with an applied border of a third print fabric around the edges on the reverse side. Printed design on front face typical of Islamic prayer rugs. It features a large archway, filled with small buti and floral motifs on a dark red ground. This is surrounded by a border of niches filled with more stylized buti and flowers. Such printed mats were a cheaper alternative for those believers who could not afford a pile rug on which to pray 5 times a day.On View
